"The International Equestrian Shop"
TheHorseStudio.com review: The personal struggles, the upbringing in Texas, the ups and downs of love and marriage between two people as they collide with the world and its twists and turns - make for a vivid memoir from Patrick and Lisa. The writing skills of Lisa, have been somewhat 'hidden' from view over the years but her work has had significant good effect on so many of the parts in which we loved watching Patrick the actor. As an incredible actor, dancer, athlete, stunt man, equestrian, and all around good guy Patrick struggled with sever physical knee pain and other mental 'dragons' throughout his life, many of which we were totally unaware. The memoir is written with frankness and honesty, and shows us all that everyone has to deal with their own demons and overcome them however famous they become. While pancreatic cancer descended and ultimately overcame even Patrick's determined soul, his memoir recounts valor, courage and love from his family not just at that time but throughout his life. Some neat photos included with the text bring the life story home. His passion for the Arabian horse and the farm they purchased in New Mexico provided some peace and quiet and sadly due to fame he didn't take the Bill Shatner route (who I loved watching at the Garden) and continue to compete in the ring, figuring the attention he and Lisa garnered made it unfair to other competitors. Typical of Patrick Swayze, his consideration for doing the gentlemanly and 'right' thing in his life was very much who he was and all part of his Texas upbringing. Patrick is sorely missed. Very generous of heart that both Patrick and Lisa shared their personal lives with us in this book. Highly recommended.
