I loved this book. Full of all the answers to the questions you have as you make the decision to 'rescue' a dog and give it a home in your home. There are so many animals out there in desperate need of care and attention and if you have that generous spirit and feel you'd like to bring a dog home from the 'pound' or rescue shelter - then this book will tell you all you need to know and help you and your new pet find a wonderful balance.

The text is very easy to read - not hard going and 'attacks' all the topics. From how to choose the right dog for you, how to recognize abnormal aggression and normal aggression in a dog - how to handle behavioral issues that may come up like jumping on furniture, barking, ( we all know they wait until we are on the phone), how to teach an older dog new tricks, what medical help you'll need, vaccinations and other great tips on how to prevent fleas/ticks or other unwanted house guests. How to introduce the dog to your cat and how to handle those kitty claws, how to care for your dog when you are away, put him on a plane or in a car, how to train and what equipment you'll need, where to go for help, all addresses problems like chewing or pulling on the leash - a lot of super advice here- real life - real issues all dog owners face.

A really well thought out and highly readable book. Highly Recommended
