TheHorseStudio.com review. This book was first published in 1982 and the photos included are of some of the finest riders of all time. Anthony Crossley brings you the advanced dressage information in two parts. The first covers the tack and equipment, basic prerequisites in mind and body for both the advanced horse and rider, and guidance on the choice of whips and bridles. In the second part of the book Anthony guides you through all the advanced movements beginning with lateral work and finishing with the piaffe and passage. The book has good illustrations and as Dr. Kilmke says a clear structure. An interesting note on two photos which illustrate long and deep where Dr. Klimke advises though the horse's nose is behind the vertical and that this is not ideally where it should be, the photos must be taken in context. That the purpose of these exercises is to loosen and strengthen the all important muscles of the horse's back. An interesting comment given all the interest in pro low and deep and rollkur which may not be the same. Also of note that Anthony recommends the canter pirouette be started from the shoulder in and not the travers. Dr. Klimke supports this position. Lots of fun info between the pages and sage advice. Recommended. Hard to find title, hence the price.
