TheHorseStudio.com review: A handy guide that uses all the British common sense in starting a young horse under saddle. No matter what discipline or whether your horse is a rescue or an expensive racehorse, the author Lynn Russell details her wealth of experience in starting numerous youngsters for the hunters and cob markets in the UK. You will learn bit fit, teach your horse to jump, ride out alone and in company after following the basic program on the ground. Basics such as training a horse to tie, pick his feet up, first blanketing and many more topics are covered. Some practical safety advice e.g. place a straw bale vertical behind the horse the first time you pull his tail. Some good gridwork and jumping advice as well as help with overcoming difficulties that we all know will and do arise! A handy book with good photos from John Henderson and excellent writing from Lynn Russell and Carolyn Henderson. Recommended. A tactful approach.
