Portable fences, fence construction, distances, shapes, profiles of fences, water obstacle design, combos and bounces and all metered to the highest safety standard possible - and all right here at your fingertips. While you might not be building a major course, even a home yard can benefit from a few cross country fences. And it is always singularly important to make the fence safe and appealing to the horse. There is a lot more to building a course then just fence placement - the entire design needs to also be spectator friendly, news press friendly - and this book provides a super insight into all the specifics. Actually as a competitor this book is also a delight - understanding exactly what the course is designed to achieve and learning to assess each fence is very helpful. Also three different courses are set up in the text - at different levels - which is a very good way of guiding you in the right direction as a designer. So steeplechase or hunter trial course designers as well as the major cross country event planners will enjoy this book. Down to earth ( pardon the pun) writing is straightforward to understand and material easy to assimilate.
