| TheHorseStudio.com review: Absolutely love this book. It emphasizes everything I have learned from European coaches over the years and addresses the horse as an individual. Plus lots of 'extras' that I didn't know too. Britta brings the wealth of her Grand Prix horse making experience to the reader and clearly explains how taking the identical approach to horses of different types and conformations is a recipe for disaster, or at least, lost potential. Every horse type is addressed and there are reflections here I recall from Dr. Reiner Klimke, of working horses in movements that are designed to enhance the horse in soundness and in mind, and not over challenge or cause problems. The special case studies here include Klaus Balkenhol and Gracioso and Goldstern, Isabell Werth and Satchmo, Monica Theodorescu and Arak. Specifically addressed are horse gender, mental type i.e. hyper, overachievers through lazy to prankster horses and everything between. Conformational issues such as swan necks, roach backs and many more are keenly addressed. Plus a section on breeds and breed types that is very helpful. Highly recommend a must read for any dressage trainer.
