TheHorseStudio.com review: The work here is very distinct and the progression logical and patient. It is clear that this title, originally published in France as Gymnase et Dressage, is a valuable tool for the rider seeking true classicism.

Sincerely helpful advice on actuals of training, with the authors unique and sensible approach. Namely the time to understand, the time to learn, the time to do and the time to perfect. The major influence on Michael Henriquet is the School of Versailles, his knowledge of Le Gueriniere and his 'survey' of Baucher are apparent throughout the text, but he diligently truly does not subscribe to just one school, which is entirely refreshing. Michael was a friend and is a discipline of the great master, Nuno Oliveira and the approach to work is very similar. I very much recommend this read.

I had never seen cantering backwards, before I reviewed the Riding and Training The Baroque Horse series of DVDs ( available right here at TheHorseStudio.com), and as that series follows brenderup, Nuno Oliveira's grandson and Rihcrad Hinrichs amongst others, this book makes a great compliment to that, taking the reader into very specific details. Inspiring, succinct text and great photos throughout.

He quotes freely from Steinbrecht and Baucher and the Versailles School, La Gueriniere. A scholar of dressage, his thirst for knowledge took him to Lisbon and to Nuno Oliveira, for whom he was one of the first foreign students.
