Biomechanics - Exercise - Treatment. This expanded and updated edition of one of the best selling books out there on equine physical therapy is one of my personal favorites. The authors are outstanding in their respective fields and the advice is extremely useful for anyone wanting the very best performance from their sport horse partner.

The book is a blend of conventional medical science with manipulative therapy for performance deficit . The topics covered are extensive - including a thorough education in basic anatomy and physiology which sets a good base for a good understanding your equine athlete. There is a good discussion of how to start work with the young horse - paying attention to ground quality - resting moments and the problems caused by jumping and riding school work. The emotional filter - the horse's back, communication and relaxation and how to make the best of technqiues of stretching and mobilization. How and why and when to do it. Plus electrotherapy and ultrasound use is covered - and how to treat common lesions in joints, tendons and muscles. From this to the treatment by anatomical area - shoulder, pelvis, thigh, head, neck, poll and more and then a very useful text with very sound advice on prep work for harness, jumping and dressage.

We have used these methods extensively over the years - having bought the 1st Edition years back and have found the work very productive. It is certainly a favorite resource in the yard and one that I believe all horsemen should read. There are lots of photos here to guide you through the application of the techniques and many mysteries are solved as you read through and identify the issues that are specific to your horse. Whether you have a young horse or a trained horse that requires some help - this is a great tool in making sure your horse stays sound and/or improves post injury they way he should. Working with your horse also improves your bond and trust - and he will surely appreciate the attention. Highly Recommended. A very nice quality production book
