There are many old wives tales based on fact and some on no reality at all. This book has become a standard ' go to' authority on the subject of stallions, and in the pages you will quickly realize that the author knows his stuff.

Though experience is always a good teacher, it certainly doesn't hurt ( pun not intended), to have Neil Douglas in your corner. If you want to be a successful stallion owner and horse breeder it will certainly pay off to read his educated words here...a good read too as Neil has been a rider and trainer of a variety of breeds during his career and there are lots of super photos in the book of many different breeds showing how different breeds may also require different things in their management and handling. Lots of options are covered too ( pun not intended again!) from how to cover difficult mares to fitness in the stallion, his health and well being, introduction to stud work, keeping a stud book and growing your business. Whether you are handling a Thoroughbred, Andalusian, or Native Pony, wisdom is here at your fingertips. I'd also recommend the book for mare owners that are unfamiliar with the breeding practices and options i.e. live cover, teasing, AI etc.
