TheHorseStudio.com review. I found this book very useful indeed. This classic work brings the horse trainer a clear understanding of the biomechanics of the horse and the effect of the riders aids. Udo Burger was an accomplished horseman, and this work was originally published in 1959. It has stood the test of time well and there are many poignant tips and help for the trainer.

A multitude of riding matters are covered in depth here. From discussions on the correct way to train a horse to gallop in such a manner as to improve his fitness and not tire him, to the use of weight and balance in stirrup aids and many thoughts that modern day horsemen have perhaps forgotten. The fundamentals of primary and elementary training, the use of relaxation, balance, poise, gait and speed plus outline of the horse and his elementary biomechanics are treated to an in depth analysis and it is well worth the read.
