Horse Showing and Training in Dressage The USDF Guide to Dressage Official Guide from Jennifer O'Bryant.

This tome of a book provides a logical text that takes the beginner competitor and dressage rider through all the basic steps to have reasonable knowledge in dressage etiquette and how to step in to the dressage arena with confidence. From the right attire and legal equipment advice to basic training messages and how to select an instructor ( naturally USDF certified is recommended here), and advice on taking dressage tests, selecting a test reader, and horse care too. There is a special section on exercises for the rider as well as the horse and some training advice plus some suggestions on where to go to see top shows and contact information for the USDF and other affiliated organizations.

thehorsestudio.com review; Anyone entering the arena of dressage will benefit from the text here and there are some nice photos throughout to demonstrate the text. Good basic info and a good jumping off point for the neophyte dressage rider that provides a grounded introduction to the sport of dressage. From application of side reins starting out the horse to tips to overcome common faux pas Jennifer has produced a very good book that will guide the reader into the ring with a better understanding of how to be successful in the sport of dressage.
