Beautiful horses, fantastic performances and a world-class competition were just some of the events captured by photographer Chris Weigl in her latest book, the World  Equestrian Games, Lexington, Ky.
    The book features full color one of kind photographs and digital paintings of cross country events, stadium jumping, dressage and driving.
    The unique images of the world’s best horses and riders are bright and colorful. Many of the photos have been computer enhanced to look like watercolor or oil paintings. 
    The photographer is a long time horse-owner and horse lover, and is striving to create images that are unusual. The 30 page book is available in soft cover, 8.5 x 11 inches, landscape format.

Chris Weigl has done an excellent job of capturing the essence of the sports showcased, with a variety of appealing works. My especial favorite has to be the Andalusian image. About the photographer:

   A horse lover since she was young girl, Chris has always cherished most the moments in her life spent with horses. For 23 years she rode her spirited and trustworthy Arabian gelding for miles in a beautiful Florida park, featuring oak trees with Spanish moss, cypress swamps, wild deer and bald eagle’s nests. Going riding on a Sunday morning was always something she looked forward to and the friends she made at the barn are still her best friends.
    A horticulturist, Chris really enjoys photographing plants and flowers and was reluctant to photograph horses because she felt she could not do them justice. 
    Several years ago she went to horse shows to practice her horse photography. She went practically every weekend during the show season and took thousands of photos and studied how the light fell on the horse and the best angles from which to photograph. It is from these hours and hours of watching horses that she has developed her timing and skill.
   Chris has a deep passion for horses and knows how they react and behave.  It is her love of the horse and understanding of them that she hopes will come through in her photographs.
