Ranch Pleasure, Ranch Trail, Reining Patterns, Cow Work, Roping, Ranch Conformation. In this DVD, internationally respected horseman Charles Wilhelm discusses preparation for each mandatory element of Ranch Horse Versatility competition. Even if you do not show your horse, this DVD will help you make your horse a more all around and better trained horse.

Charles describes the skills needed to perform a trail course and points out that this is basic knowledge that every rider and trail horse should have. On any trail you may need to cross water, go over a bridge, or open, pass through and close a gate. There are no cross ties on the trail and every trail horse needs to ground tie and remain quiet while the rider dismounts, adjusts tack or picks up the horse's feet, removes and replaces the bridle and remounts. Focusing on the basic elements of good horsemanship,

Charles explains how you and your horse can successfully complete a reining pattern, including spins, rollbacks, lead departures and lead changes. Working cows requires the ability to read, tack, and rate cows. Charles explains the techniques and skills you need. Ideally, the confirmation should have a combination of balance, structural correctness and movement, plus adequate muscling. Charles describes what judges are looking for in conformation.

Duration Approx 124 minutes. NTSC North America format.
