A Whole Bit Better: Learn about horse bitting to produce effective communication through proper bitting and relaxation from Dale, Ron and Bob Myler. Guidance on problem solving and which factors in bit purchase you should look for to provide a solution.

This is a booklet and DVD that introduces the rider to the finer points of bitting. It includes a full analysis of the horse's mouth, how bits work, a guide to the various types of Myler bits, and a postscript from Joyce Harman DVM on the anatomy and physiology of the horse's mouth as it relates to bits.

TheHorseStudio.com review: The 85 minute DVD provides many answers to the bitting problems that may arise during the course of training. The reasoning behind a specific horse's resistance or issue may not be immediately apparent. The three " Mylers" guide you on a no nonsense assessment of the horse's mouth and the pertinent factors that come in to play with certain resistances. It is comprehensive and while he information obviously will also guide you to Myler bits as a solution, the principles they explain are very good knowledge for any horseman. It will save you money buying the wrong bit over and over which you are doomed to do without fully understanding and addressing your individual horse and his mouth and conformation. Armed with this understanding you can then explore either Myler bits or the Mikmar line that we sell here at TheHorseStudio.com or the many other bit manufacturers we carry to solve the problems. Or maybe you already have just the right bit in your 'treasure chest' of bits which we all have in the tack room, which you can reach for and immediately see positive results. Knowledge is power as they say, and for any serious horse rider addressing bitting as a part of the training program is essential to fine tune the performance. Realizing also that as a horse progresses in training different resistances may occur that could be easily averted with a quick change of bit. That is after you've made sure it's not your own riding causing the problem! A very useful resource. The Mylers have some very good information to impart.
