811141
Olympic Gold Medalist and trainer of some of the biggest names in dressage, takes you through the beginnings of making a solid and confident horse. By following traditional rearing practices and engaging the foals and young horses in all manner of tasks, Klaus demonstrates his life lessons for horses.

TheHorseStudio.com review: Klaus is always right on with all the details and this DVD is no different. This is a solid, kind and traditional approach and Klaus is careful to follow his mantra of never demanding too much. Klaus is easy to listen to - and he carries you along in this DVD with a program that is easy to assimilate and emulate. If you want to start your horses, for any discipline, in a calm and sensible manner then you will benefit from the lessons here. The producer, Ronald Blume, brings his wonderful cinematic eye to the production, and you will soon find yourself immersed in all that goes on at Klaus's farm. As Klaus says, " A Grand Prix horse is made not born." In addition to sharing footage of some beautiful horses bred at Klaus's farm there is no editing of the retraining of the thoroughbreds and the literal ups and downs of that process. With one horse the rider does a wonderful job of staying on the horse while you find yourself holding your breath as they try to process the horse through his distress. A special treat for the fans of His Highness, the black stallion is put through his paces at his young horse debut in the warm up with Klaus directing from the sidelines. The full test is then shown and placement result given. The outcome predictable as the rider does not take the horse past his gymnastic strength in order to yield a top result. Honoring the teaching of Klaus Balkenhol and his patient approach and respect for the horse.
