Winning the Kentucky Derby in May 2006 with a convincing victory, Babaro was headed to Triple Crown winner status until a tragic injury during the Preakness ended his career. While the horse and his team struggled to save his life over the next few months, his fans were unswerving in their attention to his story. A dramatic life story told here with additional bonus features created by NBC especially for this DVD.

The DVD includes exclusive full coverage of both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. Plus all five of his races leading up to the Derby and interviews with key individuals including his trainer Michael Matz, jockey Edgar Prado, owners Roy and Gretchen Jackson and vet Dr. Dean Richardson. Narrated by Bob Costas. NBC donates a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this DVD to the Barbaro Fund.

TheHorseStudio.com review. A neat look inside the workings of the race horse industry with frank interviews with the Barbaro team. NBC have done their usual professional job as you would expect, in building the story and the inclusion of the race footage pre Derby stardom was a good call. Everyone loves Michael Matz, and it is heartbreaking to see the trials that all went through, especially the horse himself, after the tragic injury.The ups and downs of the sport of kings for sure, well documented here. Recommended.
