Dancing with horses, The Art of Body Language is well documented look at how we communicate with our horses. Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling (Denmark) brings his photographic skills to this DVD presentation. The work is all dance of the horse where the trainer uses his/her body to convey the slightest communication. Klaus aims for "perfect communication, including the abandonment of mechanical aids - the dream of riding -". Riding is demonstrated on wild Pyrenees stallions. There are some interesting points made here and Klaus aptly demonstrates with multiple horses including some very challenging stallions, how to introduce your own joy and inner self/external self to the horse and in return receive their gift of trust.

Whether Klaus is working with the elements of dressage with just a light rope contact around the horses' neck as the horse elegantly offers shoulder in, piaffe and passage or whether he is working with an amateur owner with a hectic spooky stallion, Klaus clearly shows us how to work with the horse in a quiet and meditative manner. From his evident calmness and exact body language, beginning with 'play' with the horse free and working into the transitions to complete trust, Klaus clearly shows how we can better achieve harmony with our horses by actually asking very little and in return receiving the complete trust of the horse and being able to produce any dressage movement or overcome any scary obstacle on the trail.

Klaus rides his horse with no bridle or saddle, in a gallop in the open forest accompanied by the herd, and demonstrates how the human/horse connection can be maintained in complete understanding without tack or equipment or force of any kind. There is some lovely work with his young stallion, who calmly maintains his composure and work ethic despite the proximity of a mare in heat and Klaus persistently 'wins over' previously hectic, distrustful and frightened horses of any age/background. Whatever discipline you work in this DVD is an excellent demonstration of how our inner self affects our work with our horses. DVD is approx 50 mins duration.
