Paul Belasik has utilized his own very unique and clever approach format wise, by not proffering the usual step by step demonstration and discussion of movements in the beginning. Instead he takes a big picture approach here and defines the influence of the historical masters on all aspects of collection and riding. It is one of the most appealing and revealing DVDs I have ever seen on the subject of art versus science. Paul's inimitable style is apparent with his passion, enthusiasm, humor and wit. He is evidently most learned of what he speaks in this masterpiece, from the old writings of the masters to the modern day interviews the content is truly useful and engaging. Camera angles including overhead serve to illuminate the viewer, and his work with assistant Andrea Velas clearly documents Paul's findings. The final chapter covers the exercises of collection with great precision and attention to detail.

The Quixotic nature of Paul Belasik has you laughing, smiling, learning and at times tearful. The studies include everything from studies of leadership in feral horses to scientific experiments of load bearing of hind limbs to the explicit nature of rebalancing the horse. The addition in parts of beautiful music enhances the effect of the special camera angles. This DVD serves the promotion of the classical school with compassion and with an intelligence that awakens your soul. So go ahead and be inspired and educated. A super reasonable price for a nice work of art. There are some useful tips for training mixed in and a good history lesson too.
