Movie description NATIONAL VELVET is the super fun family story that made a young Elizabeth Taylor a star. Taylor stars as Velvet Brown, who wins 'Pie' in a raffle after years of wanting to own her own horse. Mickey Rooney stars as the trainer and the good chemistry of these two actors on film is apparent. After all sorts of ups and downs the horse finally makes The Race, The Grand National. There is super cinematography of coastal England and lots of tension and excitement throughout.
