TheHorseStudio.com copyrighted review: The title of this series is aptly named Willing Partners and there is no question that Peter Campbell brings a quiet, patient and gentle approach to 'gentling' your colt or filly. While the work appears simple the true horsemanship is also in his approach. Peter is always accurately reading the mind of the youngster, never forcing an issue, minimizing body language e.g. scuffing the dirt with his boots, looking down and away to 'back off' when the colt starts to worry and generally reading the horse's mind. As a result the colt soon starts to trust Peter and it is not long before the business of releasing to minimal pressure on the part of the colt begins. Peter's method of not running after the colt, turning him this way and that at a fast pace, but working in a peaceful and patient manner pays great dividends. Beginning with simple scratching, and working the lariat over the horse's back, to working it over the neck then to moving forward toward to trainer takes minimal time. No upset. No force. No rushing. A wonderful tribute to the title, Willing Partners. All horses should be lucky enough to get this training as a start in life. As Peter uses one of Hat Creek Ranch's own homebred colts that has spent months out on the ranch with minimal handling, the work is ever more impressive. Proving if you have the horse's mind, you have his feet! Highly recommended.
