Guide To Lameness in The Horse Dr. James Rooney. The Hind Leg.
811045

Former Director of the University of Kentucky's Gluck Equine Research Center, Dr. Rooney brings the horse owner a comprehensive review of the common injuries of the hind leg of a horse including those of the back, leg, hip, hock and stifle. He discusses in depth how conformation weakness or faults, fatigue and heavy demands can compromise soundness and also methods of treatment.

Utilizing both live horse and skeletal dissections the viewer is shown how the biomechanics of the leg operate. Fractures, muscle strains, tendon and ligament damage are all discussed and Dr. Rooney also advises on how injuries to each area may be prevented.

TheHorseStudio.com review: This is the second DVD that Dr. James Rooney has filmed addressing lameness in the horse. ( Please see also the DVD on the Front Leg). It is a comprehensive, detailed film that explains everything you ever wanted and need to know about soundness of the horse. I've been around horses for many years and was fascinated to watch the dissected parts of the limb and certainly understood lameness issues better. It explained so much and there were some neat insights that I picked up and will put into practice. Nothing quite like seeing it on DVD. Dr. Rooney is very concise and his lifetime of study and experience was apparent throughout. The medical treatments available that are discussed hold true in some part today, but there are many more options out there that were not present in 1994 when this DVD was released, and don't we all wish they had been. I feel this is a DVD every horse owner should see - it'll save a lot of heartache not just for you but for your horses.

NTSC North America/Canada format.
