Self Help Series for Riders New and Returning to Horses from Bob Jeffreys and Suzanne Sheppard filmed at their Hudson Valley Farm, NY. The full set of three DVDs.

Super help here for those riders working alone that seek to understand the basics of natural horsemanship and refine their working relationship with the horse. Great for both English and Western riders.

Self Help For Riders New and Returning to Horses from Bob Jeffreys and Suzanne Sheppard. Volume 1

Lots of bonus features such as troubleshooting tips and equitation exercises here, in addition to some fine advice on basics for the rider. Topics covered include why horses do what they do; how to make a horse your best friend and the importance of safe horse handling; an introduction to English and Western Equitation basics; how to pick the right riding instructor, horse trainer or clinician.

The advice comes from Bob Jeffreys who is founder of Partnership Training and Susane Sheppard who is a level three centered riding instructor.

TheHorseStudio.com review: Certainly much good advice here and many exercises that are fun to do at home when you are working alone. The themes of safety, enjoyment and correct work are well addressed. A lot of answers for the returning rider too, who wishes to gain more confidence riding. The methods that Bob has developed are sensible and proven successful and the terms are easy to understand and to follow yourself. Recommended.

Self Help For Riders New and Returning to Horses from Bob Jeffreys and Suzanne Sheppard. Volume 1

In this part two of the series you will discover the promises and myths of natural horsemanship and learn how to overcome anxiety and fear in horses and people. Working on from the basic you learned ( hopefully) in volume 1, both English and Western equitation exercises are progressed. Then you are taken out on the trail where you'll learn to ride safely and enjoy the experience to the maximum.

TheHorseStudio.com review: Another good work from this team who present both the Western and English blend with their mixed backgrounds. A good DVD for anyone working on from basics and it certainly helps to have viewed the volume 1 before but it not necessary. Mistakes to avoid and common questions that arise for many riders are addressed. Both Bob and Suzanne have an easy manner about them and their instruction reflects their respect and good knowledge of horses and how they behave and why. Recommended.

Self Help For Riders New and Returning to Horses from Bob Jeffreys and Suzanne Sheppard. Volume 3

In this part three of the series you are expertly guided by this team through the vagaries of purchasing your first horse. Also included are tips on bits and correct saddle fit and how to refine your riding skills. Both Western and English equitation skills are developed. The more advanced work now begins with the start of collection. Bob and Suzanne explain why you want it and how to achieve it.

TheHorseStudio.com review: I would recommend all three of these DVDs, this being number three. I like very much the format and presentation of the exercises. They are fun to do and also achieve the desired results much, if not all, of the time. Maybe that's me! I thought the advice on being a first time horse buyer was very helpful and especially liked the explanations of collection and the help with making that work properly. Recommended.
