The Classical Seat DVD collection from Sylvia Loch

This is all 3 in 1 series films I, II and III over 3 hours duration.

This is an extremely popular and highly regarded study from Sylvia Loch on the Classical Seat. The series is in three parts and the description below identifies what is covered in each:-

1st Section A guide for the Everyday Rider Attention to the horse's back and his center of gravity and how important it is for the rider to sit over the strongest part, whether in the light forward seat or the classical dressage seat. Saddles are discussed as well as deep work, lengthening the horse through the neck and understanding where and where not to apply the aids. By watching both novice and experienced pupils learning from schoolmaster horses as well as young horses, we see how the rider can be helped by the horse before she attempts to train her own horse.

2nd Section Advancing the novice horse and rider Further work here on schoolmasters clearly illustrate the concept of lightness, engagement and how to re-balance the horse over his hocks. Exercises leading towards these goals are then employed. We learn how to ride a truly correct circle, correct corners and how to make a correct depart that is straight. Serpentines, lateral work including starting travers/shoulder in with the young horse. Excellent help for bringing that young horse into good balance and roundness.

3rd Section Advancing the elementary horse and rider Stunning filming of work to confirm the shoulder in, travers, lateral exercises on the circle ie quarters in and out, turns on the hocks towards half pass, counter canter and collection. Medium trot and lengthening the canter as well as rein back to canter in preparation for piaffe. The many riders and their horses shown in the earlier films are included here and you can see the evidence of how they have learned and improved over the earlier work. No-one is put under pressure but the work and condition of the horse especially his biomechanical and mental welfare - is given due reverence. Lots of great encouragement and knowledge shared here from international rider Sylvia Loch.

There is a super menu help on the DVD so you can go directly to the movements you are interested in refreshing after you have reviewed everything and are working day to day. A good training aid.
