An MGM production with a heartwarming and family friendly story. This coming of age movie showcases the beauty of Nova Scotia as a backdrop for the reuniting of a 13 year old girl Virginia and her family and the horse that makes that happen. Having lost her mother in a riding accident, the father ( Gabriel Byrne) is determined that his two daughters will never horse race ride again. But defying his objections to riding, Virginia trains a young colt Stormy, during secret night training sessions. When the colt is sold, Virginia and her sister with the help of a sympathetic trainer, have to convince the father that the girls need a free rein to grow. Lots of poignant drama and thrilling rides.
