This DVD contains 2 classes each of Showmanship, Western Horsemanship and Hunt Seat Equitation from a 4H County Fair. Each class contains 7 exhibitors and is accompanied by an official placing and a video/audio critique by a professional horse show judge.

Denniston ), give each of the competitors a thorough review and explain the strengths and weaknesses of their performances. The interactive design of this DVD for the viewer gives you the opportunity to test your own opinion and place each team before you hear those critiques. This enables you to improve your eye and before long you will understand exactly what the judge is looking for in the perfect ride. There is a good variety of horsemanship here. From beginner to advanced in showmanship and riding skills. So if you are completely new to these disciplines you will take comfort in seeing the good, the bad and the ugly! The DVD menu is well designed and allows you to flip through chapters and refer back as needed. There is no audio on the initial rides so you are not disturbed by outside ring noise, though as a viewer I would have quite liked to know what disturbances each horse might be reacting to outside of the ring. From the judges point of view I can see that outside distractions do not factor into their decisions. On the plus side as you view the initial rides you find yourself talking out loud with your own opinions as you see each horse work his pattern. We all love to give our opinions so this DVD will meet a happy audience. It is the perfect tool for trainers with a merry band of enthusiastic riders who need some directing before the big event. If you are a neophyte judge this would also be very educational.
