The Progressive Steps of Foundation Training. Al Dunning.
Al Dunning takes you home to his Almosta Ranch and demonstrates how he starts all his young horses for their performance careers. He begins in the round pen and starts the horse through primary education of learning how to lunge and long line, and to accept being sacked out, bridled and saddled. He then works the horse through the basics of walking, trotting, stopping, turning and backing up in the round pen before heading off into the arena and then desert. He shows you how to overcome the common problems of stiffness and lack of yield to the bit, and how to improve suppleness and body control. Further work is then taught such as taking correct leads and progressing to smooth round circles.
TheHorseStudio.com review: A great help for the trainer, this DVD shows Al Dunning working calmly and effectively through the basic training of a young horse. He works in multiple sessions, never tiring the horse and quickly develops trust and a calm attitude in the horse. His experience as a multiple time World Champion and trainer of so many top level riders and performance horses is evident throughout. He identifies key problems that can thwart correct development and teaches you without fuss how to overcome them. Highly recommended.
